Most simply put, vintage racing is racing old cars, usually those that were the highlight of the racing scene in the 50s and 60s. Some groups define vintage racing as prewar cars, meaning before World War II. Others define them as prior to 1959. These same groups then define newer cars as historic, instead of vintage. In those cases, they either cut the historic cars off at a newest year somewhere between 1959 and 1963 or somewhere between 1972 and 1975.
