In the second Factory Five Challenge Cobra race of the weekend at Road Atlanta, Rob Mau started from the pole and took the checkered flag, in the process setting a new lap record, with Sunny Hobbs closing the gap to take the second spot. “A few more laps and I could have gotten closer to Rob, but today he was faster. We had a problem during the qualifying session for this race, and the headstart Rob had in the race was just too much in today’s sprint,” said Sunny Hobbs. She started in the third spot for FFR Cobras, eighteenth overall in the multiclass field which included GTS and AI cars. “I got held up by a car at the beginning of the race and by the time I could get by him and the rest of the group we were in I had no chance of getting to the front. But after today’s start back in the pack, a second place was a great finish, and the 12 for Marcus Motorsports is terrific. Second today on top of yesterday’s win makes a very satisfying weekend.” Hobbs and Mau will be matched again in their Marcus Cobras at the MidOhio road course on April 2nd and 3rd.
